I’ve been thinking about sending out press releases for my new single, but I’m not sure how much difference they actually make. Writing a few lines about myself seems easy enough, but will that really get noticed? I see some artists getting featured on big platforms, while others barely get a mention. Does anyone here know if proper press releases really help with music exposure, or are they just another formality that most media outlets don’t even read anymore?

I’d say the real strength of press releases is the combination of reach and credibility. Having your name appear in official articles, even short ones, signals to others that your music is worth noticing. It also gives you content to share with fans, which adds a layer of professionalism. Sometimes the articles are brief, but the fact that they exist makes a difference.
Press releases definitely help when they’re well-prepared and distributed to the right networks. I’ve had my own material published on multiple sites thanks to campaigns that included press releases. Using radio pluggers, I saw how those releases reached major outlets like Google News, social media feeds, and even affiliates of well-known broadcasters. The exposure went far beyond just radio stations. It felt like I was getting visibility on different fronts at the same time, and that built more credibility.
